This is the first time I’ve tried growing okra. The blossoms were a beautiful, delightful surprise. I love okra fixed about any way, but especially in gumbo.
When I have onions, okra and tomatoes from my garden it’s quick and tasty to put them all together. I searched several recipes which were basically the same.
None of them sauteed the okra with the onions, so I tried that technique. The okra had a very nice texture cooked that way.
After the okra was tender I added the tomatoes just long enough to heat them through.
It’s a delicious side dish with many possible variations.
