Difficult year in so many ways. The toll on human lives continues to climb around the world from COVID, explosions, fires, weather disasters, and violence of many different kinds.

We did get a brief glimpse of what our world would look like if we tried to combat climate change. I, along with a majority of Americans and our allies, will be happy to see Trump and his swamp exit the White House.

For me the loss of my grandson’s Papou, his mother’s father, was devastating. Because of his long illness, I hadn’t seen him for over a year. When they all went to Florida for three months it was especially difficult and lonely during this pandemic.

Thankfully during that time I had the companionship of my little girl, Mia. For the last eighteen years she was the first thing I checked in the morning, and the last thing at night. Many nights she chose to sleep with me. Towards the end she required lots of extra care which I was happy to provide.

At the end my son was back from Florida, and drove me to the vet to have her euthanized. Dr. Henke was the most caring vet I have ever had, and he kindly got me through the whole process. After Dr. Henke helped me get her in her box for burial, my son drove us home where he dug her grave, moving a big stone for her marker. Really don’t know what I would have done without him.

So to honor her I’m posting the first card she was on. It was her idea to sit under the ornament looking out at the snow. And the first was always my favorite. She was greatly loved and is missed everyday.
