Posted in: Growing Flowers
Two of the wildflowers I transplanted from Missouri last spring have come up. I was especially worried about these two because some animal had dug them up last summer. At the time I assumed it had eaten the bulbs of all the plants.
The Dutchman’s Breeches are numerous.
So far there’s only one Toothwort that’s appeared, about to bloom. I was fascinated by the drops clinging to each leaf part at the bottom. It was, thankfully, a rainy day. Below is a clearer picture of the flower.
The other transplanted flower was a white Dog-Toothed Violet. It should be up since my yellow ones have already bloomed. They were also all in bloom at the same time in Missouri. I’m going for another visit soon. There was such an abundance in my son and his wife’s backyard that I’ll try again.
