All the rain we had, and continue to have this growing season has not been beneficial to my tomatoes.  And the Topsy Turvey planters were the most disappointing.tt-pink-german

The three “pink Germans” above did produce delicious, almost perfect tomatoes, but those were the only ones on the whole plant.   The other Topsy Turvy planter produced two Brandy Boy tomatoes.  In the middle of September they finally started turning pink, but when I went out to check them a week later they had totally rotted.  So sad, because those are my favorites.

The “pink Germans” (obviously mislabeled) above were the only exception.   That one plant in the middle of the cucumber tepee produced twenty-two tasty tomatoes.  Wonder if it had anything to do with a “pyramid effect?”

There are a few more little green tomatoes on some other plants.  I’m eternally hopeful that the rain will stop, and they will ripen before frost.  Eating the last tomato from the garden leaves a bittersweet taste.
